ICI Evening Concert: The Christmas Truce

  • Italian Cultural Institute London 39, Belgrave Square London, England, SW1X 8NT United Kingdom (map)

Italian composer Dimitri Scarlato presents, in a lecture recital, his chamber opera The Christmas Truce, commissioned by Nuova Consonanza and premiered in Rome at the Teatro Palladium in November 2015. Inspired by true events that happened during WW1, the opera was to commissioned to mark the 100th anniversary of Italy's entrance in the war, but it also refers to the 10th anniversary of the London bombings.
The composer will discuss the content of the opera and the aesthetic choices he made with the support of a small ensemble, with whom he will play some extracts from the above mentioned work. At the end of the presentation the original video recording of the premiere will be screened, followed by Q&A with the audience.
